NEIL NENNER

FAMILIAR STORIES

We all know the symbols of our national myths. Those were formed, inducted and used by leaders, artists and designers throughout the history of nations. Though, it is very rare to have symbols that represent family myths. They are usually shapeless.
This project was created in response to Neil’s family mythology, forming a mix of private values with well-known symbols of the time.
Each family member tells a slightly different story and in Neil’s case, many family stories were kept as a secret, for a long time.
This graphic interpretation is a way to tell a story, or perhaps many stories. It is both familiar and unfamiliar, and at the same time it is a figure of Neil’s private imagination and interpretation.
